Upcoming Events for September and October
Welcome to a Brand New Year.......Fall 2015
We are so excited that you are part of our Diggs-Latham Family. We are very proud of our school and the work that we do here. We are successful because of you. You help us to prepare our students for what they will face in the future. We are also here to help you. This
One thing that is especially important for you to know is how valuable it is that you get your students to school on time every day. Every minute of instruction counts from pre-school to grade 5. We need them here. Please do not pick them up early unless it is absolutely necessary. We truly appreciate your help with this. It is also very important to ask your child about their day, supervise homework time, set up routines and most importantly, read to your children and let them read to you! Make this a special part of every day. Please consider joining PTA and volunteering in our school. We need you!!!! Please make sure that you are communicating with your child's teachers on an on-going basis not just at conference time. Teachers are working hard to build positive relationships with your children and make positive contacts with you. Below, I will list some upcoming events, please plan to be here to join us as a partner in the education of your children. I promise you that I will do everything in my power to make sure that you children are safe, engaged in learning and happy at school. We have dedicated, competent and caring teachers who want nothing but the best for your children!

April Parent Blog
1. Getting organized means a kid gets where he or she needs to be and collects the
supplies needed to finish the work.
2. Staying focused means sticking with the job.
3. Getting it done means finishing up, checking your work, and remembering to put homework inside the backpack so it's ready for the next day.
Once kids know these steps they can
start tackling tasks on their own. That means homework, chores, and other
tasks will get done better and faster. Of course, kids
will still need help and guidance.
We need to teach these skills so kids know how to
get stuff done and this will help them feel better. Kids
feel proud when they're able to get work done. They're also sure to be pleased when they find they have some
extra free time to do what they'd like to do.
hacer.

At the end of February, we celebrated students with excellent behavior at our Tiger Pride Celebration. These students were treated like kings and queens...and they deserved every bit of it! Our Tiger Pride Celebration takes place every month. Students can be nominated by any staff member in the school if they're "caught being good."

More good news...our school earned "whole school growth" based on last year's data. We were one of two elementary schools to receive this honor. This means that, as a school, our students made academic growth last year...and growth is good. We're growing leaders!
